Chalupa and Breakfast!

Sunday night turned out to be Funday night! Ha! Lame! Anyway, it was! We went to my boyfriend's parent's house, ate some meatloaf, drank some wine, and played some chalupa (Mexican Bingo aka Loteria). It was fun except for the fact that my grandma kept winning despite never having played before! She made out with about $8.00 in change. At $0.30 a game you can imagine how many times she kicked our butt! Beginner's luck I guess!

I actually woke up early Monday morning and made my boyfriend, Mike, some delicious breakfast! Holla!

I made him a two egg omelette with diced red bell peppers and onions, monterrey jack cheese, bacon, and avocado. It was amazing if I do say so myself. He loved it!  :)

As promised, I took my grandma and my uncle to the antique shops. Sadly, almost all of them were closed with the exception of one. The things in that shop were not really antiques though. I could best describe it as bright, cheap 80's dresses that were in desperate need of lit match! lol Seriously, those things were hideous. The few things that stood out to me were the small fake pearl tie on a headless mannequin form that was full of tacky pins, a few typewriters, and a mounted deer head by the door that was sporting some bright red lipstick! I do apologize for the lack of pictures! :( My curiosity got the best of me and I completely forgot! I might just go back just to take some pics and post them here. Perhaps I'll drop by later on in the week when the store next door will be open. Maybe I can find some hidden treasures and kill two birds with one stone... figuratively, of course!!

Still working on the bib. Unexpected issues have risen. Will post pics as soon as I am finished.

Hobby Lobby Time!

Yesterday, Mike and I finally went to Hobby Lobby for some supplies!Image
Yay! :D
I don’t know how in the world I convinced him to go with me, since I usually take forever in that place! Turns out he had his own list of things he needed to pick up as well, although his list was nowhere near as lengthy as mine. Regardless, he took me, he didn’t rush me or get upset at me for taking so long, and I’m grateful. I got some things for some DIY ideas I’ve been dying to try! Some of the upcoming projects include a beautiful wreath, a cute little shirt for my nephew, a cloud pillow I saw on PInterest, some glass cutting, some photo transferring, a new canvas for a painting request, and a super adorable bib (also for my nephew). I have already started on the bib and will hopefully have it done before the end of the weekend so I can get started on some of the other projects by Monday.Image
On a different note, my grandma and uncle are currently visiting from Puerto Rico. Since they are both afraid to drive here, and I am currently unemployed, I am sort of expected to be their chauffeur. I was able to somehow skirt around this last week but it looks like I’ll be having to drive them around a bit this week. I know… I know how it sounds but if it were for an hour or two a day no problem… but last time I was with them for four hours looking for a pair of short black wedges for under $15.00 and if you knew my grandma’s taste, it seemed like nothing was quite right… and then I did my grandma’s nails (which I volunteered to do and I enjoyed doing so) which ended up taking another hour and a half or so. Four hours and countless of stores later, the only thing we ended up with was a banged up door from some stupid lady who slammed her suburban door open without looking and dented the crap out of the side of my car! She even went so far as to blame me and insult me in front of my grandma and uncle!! The nerve of some people I tell you! But as far as this upcoming week, it looks like I’ll be taking her to a few antique shops and maybe a thrift store or two. Hopefully I can find some cute stuff. I’ll be sure to post a few pics if I do.
Going to play some Chalupa (Mexican Bingo) with the family later… Pics to come! :)

Marble Nails!

I tried my hand at marble nails yesterday and I must say that it is time consuming and messy but the nails looked pretty! I say "looked" because believe it or not, I already messed them up!   :(

 Here are the pics!

These were taken right after I did my left hand. As you can see I had yet to even clean off the excess polish.

These were taken at the end of the night after I had already ruined most of my nails.  :(

Unfortunately, the marbling process took a lot longer than I had expected and I ended up having to rush to get ready for dinner and my nails had not yet completely dried. The drying process seems to take a bit longer with water marbling. Also, I got a few air bubbles on some of the nails. I'll have to read up on how to get rid of those.

Either way, it was pretty fun and the colors looked pretty cute together. Here are the polishes I used for this water marbling:

I'll be giving the water marbling another shot soon... up next: Konad!

My First Painting!!

I just finished my first painting and it feels great! There are some things I think I can improve on but overall, I'm pretty happy with my first attempt at my very own original art piece! My inspiration was an actual photo I took of a tree  by my house and a beautiful Texas sunset.

Here is my original photo and the inspiration for this painting.

I am quite aware the colors are a bit off (that being one of the things I would like to work on for next time). There is a tiny bit of the yellow hue on the painting but my lighting was not the greatest... My apologies for that but I have had to resort to relying solely on my iphone since I can't find my card reader anywhere and this was just a quick snap I took before starting on dinner tonight! :( I have a sneaking suspicion my boyfriend Mike misplaced it (and he's blaming me for losing it) or our dog Dexy ate it! lol

I hope to work on my next painting very soon! Hopefully I can find some inspiration in some of my other photos.

Btw (By The Way) I am planning on painting my nails tomorrow so hopefully a brand spanking new blog will soon follow. I am thinking of trying my hand at water marbling or finally try my Konad stamps. We'll see what my mood brings tomorrow!

Thanks for reading! See you soon!
